So close, yet so far...

As you may know, The Husband and I are doing the long distance marriage thing again.

We bought the house and I am now getting ready to go back to school for my masters degree.

The whole long distance marriage deal will be over next summer when The Husband separates from the Marine Corps.

I'm already completely over only seeing him on some weekends. And it's only been about 2 and a half months. Which shouldn't be a surprise... Who wouldn't be tired of it?

But at the same time, I'm tooooootally freaking out man. Because when that is over... so will his time in the Corps.

And then what?

Oh. Just readjusting to life in the regular real world again.

No big deal.

Or a big deal.

I haven't decided yet.

If I lose my mind completely by September of next year, you'll know which it was.

I cannot wait!

We received word this past week that work on our home will begin by the end of this coming week.

I squealed when I read the email.

It's happening!

The Husband and I drove to our lot this weekend so I could take pictures of it as it stands now and our new "neighbors" across the street already had most of their first floors framed out. Those lots were just dirt last week when we took BIL and MIL to look. I was stunned and so excited.

We've been discussing what we want to do to the house once we're in it. The Husband wants to focus on getting some of the interior details taken care of (ceiling fans, chandeliers, and the pendant lights for the kitchen). I totally agree. But I also want to DECORATE ALL THE THINGS. So my mind is constantly going and picking out things for the whole house.

We're pretty much good to go in regards to furniture. We'll have two bedrooms unfurnished, but I want one to be an office/craft room, so break that down to one unfurnished bedroom and one unfurnished office.

The backyard will need to be done as it won't have any landscaping, there will be no patio, and no patio cover. These were all extras and we decided to put the money IN the house as these are all things that we are capable of doing ourselves after the fact. Thankfully, the front yard will be done for us so we don't have to worry about our HOAs breathing down our necks to get that done (Yes, HOAs. We have two: One community and one neighborhood... gotta love it!).

The backyard will be a work in progress. The Husband wants to do a majority of the work, so it will be done on weekends and during holiday 96s.

I'm going to attempt to finish my office before school starts at the end of the summer, which doesn't leave me much time, but I can work fast, and I know what I want.

Here are some of my ideas...

This one is my favorite, so far...

I also wouldn't mind that Mac...

Buuuuuut that's another blog for another day.

15 March, 2013

So this happened...

I got into grad school.

Yeah.

For real.

I'm still kind of "Holy... crap..." about the whole thing.

Because, really. I. Got into. Grad school.

I start this fall.

I am completely overwhelmed with how much God has blessed me in the last month. Things are good. Even when things don't go the way I expect them to, or how I want.

I still have to call and set up an advisory appointment, get financial aid taken care of, and prepare to go back to school.

I can't even believe it. But I can't wait for the fall! Pin It Now!

Almost fully grown

I mean. I guess I'm an adult, but  definitely don't feel like a grown up.

Especially in relation to all of our friends.

They're all buying houses, having babies, getting established in their careers, etc.

I'm definitely not having babies for a while and I'm still working on establishing a career (Alma Mater has informed me that I should be expecting a decision, in either direction, about my admission to graduate school by March 15... And my head is about to explode waiting to hear something).

But...

The Husband and I are officially one step closer to growing up!

We bought a house!

It's a new construction in a new master planned community in town. We have yet to break ground because we still have to pick out our details, which we will do this weekend, but once that is done, they can get started.

We'll be in it by the middle of the summer.

I'm still kind of freaked out and was totally petrified while we were signing the papers to go under contract (This is a HUGE deal!), but I'm definitely excited. We're already trying to figure out how to design the backyard, the extra bedrooms, window coverings, etc. I've already begun figuring out how I'm going to decorate for Thanksgiving and Christmas (Which my brother in law thinks is nuts... I think it's perfectly normal), because I want to hold both at our house (I WILL HAVE DOUBLE OVENS Y'ALL!).

So the excitement is definitely outweighing the fear. There's really nothing to be afraid of, I suppose. It's just going to be a big change and I've never owned anything this big in my life.

Now if Alma Mater would get back to me about my future, that would be greeeeeat. Pin It Now!
